Oil Refining Company in the Middle East

The company operates 3 major locations with separate meterials warehouses at each site. Each Location is operated under high degrees of autonomy. Originally there were approx. 250,000 stock lines held across the 3 sites.

Improvements to methods, systems, and organisation have reduced the stock value by approx. 50% over time. Components of the Change Management plan included:

  • Upgradiing of material catalogue descriptions using uptodate software tools - leading to the identification of duplicate/identical items, similar items and obsolete materials.
  • Integration of the new catalogue system into the client's back-office system - and improvements to the functionality of the existing Inventoriy Management module. Including interfacing with Maintenance work-planning systems to allow fcilities such as 'stock reservation' etc.
  • Adoption of modernised Material Management Policies - including matters related to holding of stocks, simplified ordering of stock replenishments, identification & disposal of surplus stock etc.
  • Reorganisation of roles & responsibilities for materials catalogue and materials Inventory Management - including the development of new job descriptions outlining the knowledge and understanding required by incumbents to perform at a satisfactory level.
  • Development & delivery of tailor-made training seminars - keeping staff informed of changes and trained in the skills required to undertake new tasks, methods and systems.
